About Guru - Mayura Academy of Dance
Smt. Swapna Suresh started learning Bharatanatyam (Thanjavur Style) at the age of 4 from Guru Smt.Teresa David in (Thootukudi) Tuticorin. She studied this art form for 12 years under her Guru’s guidance. During the learning curve, Swapna performed numerous times and went on to win various commendations.
Ms. Swapna has a Bachelors in Computer Science and Masters in Information Technology. However her heart has always followed her passion for Bharatanatyam which helped her accomplish her Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam under University of Madras under the guidance of eminent Gurus. The Foundation of Swapna's perseverence can be credited to her parents who stood beside her in every decision as well as her Guru who always emphasized on two aspects, Dedication and Hard work. |

Training in Classical Carnatic Music for 12 years, with Smt. Bavani Subramanian and later with Guru Shri Trichy Narayanan helped Swapna achieve a deeper Sadhana for Bharatanatyam during her formative years.
The next chapter of her learning was under the esteemed training of Guru Smt. N. Beena in Chennai.
Smt. Beena is an expert in both Bharatanatyam & Mohiniattam. Swapna was also trained in Mohiniattam for 2 years in parallel to her Bharatanatyam education under Smt. Beena.
Swapna Suresh began offering Bharatanatyam classes since 2008 in College Station, TX and has kept the tradition going upon relocating to PA in 2011. Mayura Academy of Dance has the privilege of training numerous students since last 9 years. Her School of Dance has flourished in to a source of joy and pride. Through this school and her work in the community, Swapna and the students of Mayura, raise cultural awareness for this ancient beautiful art. To encourage her students in Mayura, Swapna routinely hosts annual program "Natyanubhava" and her students have utilized their knowledge of classical dance to perform at various local events at Schools, Temples, Art Organizations and Universities. She has the talent of bringing out the best in all her students and living up to the motto of her dance school.
Ms.Swapna Suresh is also an Adjunct Professor at the Lehigh University who teaches Indian Dance. She has given several lectures and demonstrations at Penn State University, Desales University, Muhlenberg College and also at high schools in Allentown School District.
Currently Swapna resides in Breinigsville, PA.
